功力，而在ImmortalEgypt不朽的埃及中，更充分利用了他的這種能力和作風來展現

Americanflutes,notplayedtofalselysoundnative,workswonders.On"
DesertDream,"theunusualfretlessbassunderpinninggiveswaybeautifully
toglissguitarheldtogetherbyEgyptianpercussion--afarcryfromwhat's
usuallyconsiderednewagemusic.Butthroughoutthealbumhetakesturns
slightlyawayfromthewell-troddennewagepath,likethetremologuitar
thatglidesalong"ForestPathways."Thorntondoesn'tneedoverpowering
synthstomakehismusic(althoughthey'reoftenthereatabackgroundlevel,
andsometimesmoreintheforeground),whichputshimwellaheadofmostof
hispeers,andthere'saconstantsenseofmovementinhiswork.Whether
hismusicwillincreaseself-awareness,ashehopes,isadebatablepoint.
